Training
Scheme The Devon Rural Skills Trust offers a rural skills training scheme for those who intend to make their living using traditional rural skills.
Training is given through free attendance on the fortnightly Saturday courses,
in addition to 36 personal tuition days from recognised craftsmen and women.
Some financial support is available through the training period to go towards
expenses and relevant qualifications (such as a chainsaw operation certificate).
Trainees can choose from a range of skills (see Skills page) they wish to learn but all are encouraged to dedicate a substantial amount of their training time to the basic skills of dry stone walling and hedge laying.
Due to insurance requirements all DRST trainees must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
If you would like more information about the training scheme please contact
